A long time ago, in Belitung Island, there lived poor husband and his wife. His name was Anatungku, and his wife’s name was Darabaru. Even though they were so poor, they lived happily and loved each other. But they thought it was not enough, because they had no child. So, they prayed every day and every night to God to give them a child, no matter their child is a boy or a girl.
“God, give us a child, even though it’s just as small as my tiny finger!” said them one night because they were so desperate.
God hear what they had asked for. Not so long, Darabaru had pregnant. They was so happy and couldn’t say anything, they just thank to God because of his blessed to them. Finally they could get a child.
After 9 months had left, the baby had been born. But they were so surprised when they looked at their baby. The baby was as small as their tiny finger.
“My husband, why our baby is so small??” said Darabaru to Anatungku.
Anatungku just kept silent, he didn’t know what had happened too. He couldn’t believe if his baby was so small. But suddenly he remembered what their had prayed before.
“My wife, don’t you remember what we had prayed to God?! We prayed for a baby even though he was as small as our tiny finger!” asked Anatungku.
“Oh my gosh, you are right my husband! God have listened at what we always wanted before, and he had given as what we have prayed!” said Darabaru.
“Yeah, so we must love our child, even though he is not so big, but he is what God have given to us, my wife!” said Anatungku.
Darabaru agreed with his husband. They looked after the baby. The time had gone by, until their child became 6 years old, but his body was still as tiny as before. So they called him Kelingking.
First, Anatungku and Darabaru really loved Kelingking. But there was one thing that made them restless. If Kelingking ate, he ate more than common people. He could eat one basket of rice and much kind of meat and vegetables that had served in table. Anatungku and Darabaru was so confuse, they couldn’t do anything. They were very shock at how much Kelingking could eat. They couldn’t live better if Anatungku’s salary was just enough for Kelingking’s food. So they decided to killed Kelingking.
“My husband, how to kill Kelingking?” asked Darabaru.
“I have one way.” said Anatungku.
“What is that?” asked Darabaru again.
“I will ask Kelingking to follow me to the jungle!” said Anatungku surely.
“But for what??!!” asked Darabaru, still confused.
“I will throw him and killed him, my wife.” answered Anatungku.
Darabaru agreed with Anatungku. After that, the next morning, Anatungku asked Kelingking to follow him to the jungle, looking for wood. Finally they found the biggest tree.
“Kelingking, stand up on there! I will cut this tree!” said Anatungku.
“Yes, Dad!” said Kelingking.
But Kelingking didn’t realize, Anatungku cut the tree, and the tree fell down over Kelingking’s body. Anatungku was so happy, he had killed Kelingking.
“Ha….ha…ha….i’ve killed you hey tiny!!” said Anatungku happily.
After Anatungku was pretty sure if Kelingking had really died, he went home to tell Darabaru. She was really happy to hear that.
“Oh my husband, after Kelingking died we can live happily and there will not less food and less money again!” Darabaru was laugh happily.
But, when the sun had really came out, suddenly there was a voice outside the house.
“Dad…dad! Where can I put this tree?!” asked Kelingking.
“My husband, that’s Kelingking’s voice! Haven’t he died?!” Darabaru was so afraid.
“Let’s go out, we must check it out!” said Anatungku.
They were so surprised after looked at Kelingking that didn’t hurt and bring the tree on his shoulder.
“Dad, where can I put this tree??” asked Kelingking again.
“Oh, just put it over there.” said Anatungku suddenly.
After he put the tree down, Kelingking came into the house and looked for food. Because he was so tired, he ate one basket of rice that Darabaru had cooked. Anatungku and Darabaru was shocked and couldn’t do anything.
Since Kelingking came to their house again, their life went worse. Kelingking ate more and more food everyday. More than one basket of rice! Anatungku and Darabaru were so sad, they couldn’t stand for it longer, so they made new plan to kill Kelingking.
“My husband, what can we do again after now?” asked Darabaru one day.
“I will asked Kelingking to follow me to the mountain to pick up the rocks.” answered Anatungku , smiled at his wife.
“Calm down my wife, don’t worry, im sure if that’s my best plan to kill Kelingking!” add Anatungku surely.
The next day, Anatungku asked Kelingking to accompany him to the mountain to pick up the rocks. They had arrived at the mountain.
“Kelingking, I will hide this mountain to crowbar the rocks! You stay here to pick up the fell down rocks!” said Anatungku to Kelingking.
“Ok, Dad!” answered Kelingking.
After that, Anatungku hide the mountain, he bring a wood to crowbar the rocks. First of all, he just crowbared small rocks, then bigger, and bigger and the biggest. When he had crowbared them, they fell down over the Kelingking’s body. Then, Anatungku came to see and check if Kelingking had really died.
“Kelingking…Kelingking!” called Anatungku.
But there was no answer. Anatungku tried to call him again, but still no answer. He was really sure if Kelingking had died. He went home happily and told it to Darabaru. But Darabaru didn’t believe it.
“Are you sure, my husband if Kelingking has died?!” asked Darabaru not sure.
“Yes, of course, my dear wife! The rocks felt down over his body!” said Anatungku.
“Oh, I hope so, my husband! Our life will get better soon!” said Darabaru happily.

But suddenly, when the sun had gone, there was a voice outside the house.
“Dad…dad..!! where I can put this rock?!” yelled that voice outside.
“Put it on there!” said Anatungku without realized.
Anatungku and Darabaru were so surprised when they came out from the house. They looked Kelingking put down the rock. As usual, after put down the rock, Kelingking came in to the the house and ate more than a basket of rice. He was so hungry after bring the rock to their house.
Finally, Anatungku and his wife felt poor with Kelingking. They realized if Kelingking had been born because they asked to God for him. After that they had never tried to kill Kelingking anymore, they had accept Kelingking the way he was, as their family member.
Kelingking that had bigger power than common people always helped her father and her mother’s works. He even did hard works for their family, so Anatungku could rest and what they needed, could complete as well.
